Lean Into the Dip
Years ago, I read The Dip by Seth Godin and it totally changed the way I think about business. Recently, I experienced a “dip” and had to make a mental decision on how to handle the situation. The month of November was incredibly odd for SLAB Outdoors and taught me more than I can properly explain. I experienced the longest lull in sales that I had seen since our launch in June and was scrambling to scrap a decent month together. With about a week left in November, Black Friday helped us rack up some sales and the “dip” seems to be over.
As I reflect on how I felt during the middle of November, I realize that I leaned into the “dip” as Godin encourages people to do in certain situations. Any startup, established business, and/or project will present challenges and it’s how we respond that creates stories worth sharing. Even with business moving forward, new obstacles have come into play and that’s part of the process. It may sound cheesy, but if it were easy – everyone would do it! Lean into the dip!
